Ask anyone what causes cramping and most likely they’ll say dehydration and electrolyte imbalances.
But maybe not. New research in cramping tends to point to neurological factures due to muscle fatigue.

What people are beginning to realize given the neurological nature of cramping is that there may be a simple fix. Often a salty, bitter and or hot (as in peepers not heat) have a feedback effect neurologically and may reduce or eliminate cramping.
